Stonebridge Gunworks · ResetClip

A dry-fire trainer for Gen 5 and Gen 6 Glock pistols. Clip it on, and the trigger resets itself — press after press without racking the slide. Read this once before your first session.

Dry fire only. This is not a safety device.

The ResetClip does not make a loaded pistol safe. It does not block the chamber and it is not a chamber flag. Never treat an installed clip as evidence that a pistol is unloaded.

Before it goes on, the pistol is verified empty and every round of ammunition is out of the room. It comes off before any ammunition comes back. No exceptions, and never "just for a second".

What it does

The ResetClip seats over the rear of the slide. Its centre blade fills the recess the connector works in and holds the connector inward, so the trigger bar never reaches the ramp that drops the striker.

The striker is never released. The trigger returns on its own, and you get pull after pull without racking the slide between them. Nothing on the pistol is modified, nothing is permanent, and the clip comes back off in a second.

Why it is orange. So you can see from across the room that it is installed, so you cannot miss it when it is time to take it off — and so you can find it when it ends up on the floor of your range bag.

Before every session

Every time. Even if the pistol never left your hand, and even if you cleared it ten minutes ago.

1

Magazine out

Remove the magazine from the pistol and set it aside.

2

Look, then feel

Lock the slide back. Look into the chamber, then put a finger in it. Sight and touch, both, every time — tired eyes lie.

3

All ammunition out of the room

Every round, every loaded magazine, every loose cartridge in a pocket or a range bag. Not on the bench, not in a drawer — out of the room, door shut.

4

Pick a safe direction

One that would still be safe if the pistol fired: a backstop that will actually stop a bullet, with nobody and nothing of value behind it. Interior drywall is not a backstop.

5

Now fit the clip

Not before. The clip is the last thing that happens, after the pistol and the room are both verified.

Fitting it

1

Seat it over the rear of the slide

Make sure you have the right generation for your pistol: RC-105 for Gen 5, RC-106 for Gen 6. Then, with the pistol verified unloaded, line the side arms up with the grooves at the rear of the slide, then push the clip on squarely until it is fully seated and both retaining tabs engage.

2

Check it is fully home

The clip must be fully seated once installed. No gap along the back, no rock, no rattle. A clip that is not seated is a clip that is not doing its job.

3

Confirm the reset

Press the trigger once toward your safe direction and check that it returns without racking. If it does not, the clip is not seated or it is the wrong generation for your pistol. Sort that out before you go on.

Step 1 — starting the fit. Line the side arms up with the grooves at the rear of the slide and push the clip on straight. It is not seated yet in this photo.

Step 2 — fully seated, from underneath. The U sits tight against the rear of the slide and the thin centre blade is all the way in.

Fitted. Fully seated and easy to see from across the room. Now confirm the reset (step 3).

While you train

  • Every rep goes toward the safe direction. No exceptions for "just checking something".
  • Finger off the trigger between reps, exactly as you would with live ammunition.
  • End the session on purpose. Do not drift out of it. The moment people reload out of habit is the moment they stopped paying attention.

Taking it off

1

Safe direction

Point the pistol in your safe direction.

2

Pull it straight back

Pull the clip straight back off the slide.

3

Function-check

Rack the slide and confirm the trigger breaks normally again. Know the pistol is back to normal before anything else happens.

4

Put it where you will see it

Not in the same pouch or box as your magazines.

5

Then, and only then, ammunition

Ammunition comes back into the room last.

What it is not

  • Not a safety. It does not make a loaded pistol safe, it does not block the chamber, and it is not a chamber flag.
  • Not a substitute for checking. "The clip is in" is never a reason to skip the chamber check.
  • Never with a live round anywhere in the pistol. Not in the chamber, and not in a magazine in the well.
  • Never carried, never stored installed. Fit it for the session and take it off at the end.
  • Off before live fire, every time. The pistol does not get loaded with the clip installed.

Inspect it — and keep spares

The ResetClip is a printed polymer part and a consumable. Look it over before every session, and take it out of service if you find:

  • any crack, whitening or stress line — especially where the centre blade meets the back of the clip;
  • a loose or rattling fit, or a clip that no longer stays put on the slide;
  • visible wear, polishing or flattening on the blade;
  • any distortion. Do not leave it on a dashboard or in a parked car — PETG softens well below the temperature a car interior reaches on a summer afternoon.

It is cheap enough to keep spares. Small parts go missing. Keep one with each pistol and one in the range bag, so a lost clip never ends a practice session.

Make sure you have the right generation for your pistol before use. The Gen 6 version has longer arms than the Gen 5. Every clip is bagged on its own, with the model and generation printed on the label.

Common questions

Can I use it with a red dot mounted?

Yes. The ResetClip clears slide-mounted optics on optic-cut Gen 5 and Gen 6 slides, so the optic can stay on while you train.

Which version do I need?

RC-105 for a Glock Gen 5, RC-106 for a Glock Gen 6. They are not interchangeable, and other generations are not supported.

Does it make my pistol safe to handle loaded?

No. It is a dry-fire training aid, not a safety device. Use it only with the pistol verified unloaded and every round of ammunition out of the room.

Does it modify my pistol?

No. It clips over the rear of the slide and comes back off in a second. Nothing on the pistol is changed.

Can I leave it installed?

No. Fit it for a dry-fire session and take it off at the end. Never carry or store the pistol with it installed.

How long does it last?

It is a consumable. Inspect it before every session and replace it if it is cracked, loose or worn. Most people lose one before they wear one out — which is why we sell them in packs.
