How It Works With Two Eyes Open
Shoot with both eyes open. One eye sees the dot against the black backer, the other eye sees the target unobstructed, and your brain merges the two images — so you get a full view of the target while still seeing the dot. That is the visual process you want in a match, and this trains it directly.
- Install the trainer so it blacks out the optic window.
- Keep both eyes open and hold hard focus on the target.
- Present the gun and let the dot arrive in your vision — do not go looking for it.
- Call the shot from the color you see on the target — target focused, not dot focused.
- Run it for part of each session, then pull it and shoot clean to compare.

This model is not for reciprocating slide mounts.
It is built for frame-mounted open guns with blast shields, and the added front clearance is the whole point. Slide-mounted SRO? Order the standard SRO Target Focus Trainer. It also will not fit a Trijicon RMR, RCR, Holosun, or any other optic.
Recommended Setup
Run it on your open gun during structured dry fire and live fire practice, and leave it on when the sun is low enough to wash out the dot.

My SRO is mounted on the slide. Can I use this one?
No. Order the standard Trijicon SRO Target Focus Trainer for a reciprocating slide mount. This open mount edition is for frame mounts.
Will this fit my RMR, RCR, or Holosun?
No. This trainer is cut for the Trijicon SRO only. Other optics have different window sizes and shapes.
Does it really help with sun?
Yes. It blacks out the optic so bright light cannot wash out your dot, and it eliminates the double-dot the SRO can produce in low-angle sun. It works the same in the rain.
